Cancuc

San Juan Cancuc is a mayan Tseltal town in Chiapas.

Surrouded by a dramatic mountain landscape, Cancuc has developed its own attire. Similar to Oxchuc, the women's huipil is long and woven in three webs. Decorated with embrodery and their characteristic brocade in a checkerboard of prescise alternation of colors in a complex pattern.

    Heddle brocade commonly use in rectangular shapes and rows of color with alternating colors in short vertical stripes. Both are often combined to form more complex patterns with alterations of colors
